There are a lot of Redskins players quoted in the Comcast SportsNet segment above, but I think Brian Orakpo does the best job of summing up the way a whole lot of people feel after yesterday’s demoralizing beatdown at the Meadowlands.
“It’s very frustrating,” Orakpo said. “You want to do well. You want to perform. You know what’s at stake. Our back’s against the wall. I’m tired of it, I know a lot of people are tired of it, I know you guys are tired of it, covering a terrible team like this. We’ve got to get things better.”
Sure, Orakpo went on to some more optimistic stuff — “We know we can be a great team. We know we can be a good team. We’ve just got to be consistent and don’t get behind like this. It’s hard to come back like that. — but that’s a lot harder to see right now than the frustration.
But the top quote — the soundbite from the CSN piece — wasn’t Orakpo’s only accurate description of the frustration. “It’s frustrating because, like I said, we’ve got good players, we’ve got good coaches, we’ve got good guys on this team that work hard,” he said earlier, “and for us to keep going out week in and week out and keep getting our [butts] whooped like that, it’s just not a good thing.”
And Orakpo wasn’t the only linebacker expressing frustration. Here’s London Fletcher:
“It’s extremely frustrating,” Fletcher said. “Same old story week in and week out, we’re just not a sound fundamental football team. Poor tackling, probably the worst tackling team I’ve been around, don’t do the fundamental things well: don’t catch footballs, don’t hold onto the ball, don’t tackle well. Those things are things that you need to do on every level in order to win football games.”

Yeah, that about sums it up for me. I’m sure there’ll be even more such good cheer and optimism at open locker room in a few minutes; I’ll let you know.
